Subject Matter Expert Trainers

Analytix prides itself with subject-matter expert trainers and consultants with extensive operational experience across a broad range of public and private sector organisations.

 

Johan Botha

Johan Botha, founder and Managing Director of Analytix, holds an MBA degree from the University of Stellenbosch.

He is a trained and certified performance management consultant, and an acknowledged expert in IT Governance and IT Performance Management, particularly in the CobiT, ISO 27001 and the Balanced Scorecard frameworks and the processes required to support their design. Johan has lead numerous projects to develop and implement IT Governance and Performance Management solutions for major public and private sector organisations.

His extensive experience is drawn from various general management positions, including Managing Director of Vector Open Systems, Bendata South Africa and Synergy Computing. Johan has successfully launched Performance Management, Strategy facilitation, and Balanced Scorecard interventions into clients such as Old Mutual, Group Five, the DTI, KWV, Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), Coega Development Corporation, Department of Justice, Botswana Building Society, Sappi, Hollard etc.

Johan has, among others, developed CobiT and IT Governance related training courses, which have been attended by thousands of IT professionals from more than 300 leading South African, African and international companies. His courses particularly emphasise the interdependence and synergies between the various standards and frameworks in context, e.g. CobiT and ISO 27001. In addition to the IT Governance public and in-house training, Johan’s international experience include interventions in among other, the UK, Botswana, Nigeria, Singapore, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

Johan’s expertise and experience is recognised in the industry, as he is a regular presenter and speaker at distinguished conferences and seminars, locally and internationally. Johan is also the author of the South African IT Governance survey, conducted in conjunction with IT Web (2005 & 2006).

 

Marius Loggenberg

Marius Loggenberg’s flourishing IT career spans over 25 years, with extensive experience particularly the management of large business units, systems and projects (including personnel and finance, plant maintenance, production, sales, distribution, capital projects, process control and advanced process control, MES), organisation development, succession planning, performance management, strategic interventions, the balanced scorecard, project management, programme management, strategic information systems and mentorship.

He is presently a Business Consultant in organisation development, mentorship, skills profile analysis and sustainable development for large corporate institutions in South Africa.

During his career, Marius was involved in various large-scale projects, including developing of the IBM 4700 CTAM component of the Multinet banking system for Thorn EMI, still in production today, leading a Strategic Marketing Planning intervention for the Sasol Group, implementing all systems for Sasol’s 34 companies (Finance, HR, Production, Commercial, Sales, Distribution, Plant Maintenance, Advanced Process control, Medical Aid and Executive Information Management Systems) on a Network of then 12 000 workstations, was involved in several mergers and acquisitions and was Director eBusiness Solutions at Siemens South Africa.

His vast management and consulting experience with leading internationally-renowned companies such as De Beers, Sasol, Siemens and Group Five manifests his ability to lead and deliver results in his fields of expertise.

 

Andrew Stekhoven

Andrew Stekhoven’s IT career spans over 20 years during which he has held executive roles that include the hardware, software, networking and professional services sectors of the IT industry. He currently holds the position of managing director of Escrow Europe (Pty) Ltd, a member of the international Escrow Europe group, one of the world’s leading providers of active software escrow (or technology escrow) services. In November 2007, the Institute of Risk Management of South Africa (IRMSA) named Escrow Europe as the recipient of the Best Small Business Initiative Related to Risk Management Award for 2007 at its annual conference. Andrew has also spoken at numerous public, company and user conferences as well as at several IT industry events, locally and abroad.



Bevan Lane

Bevan Lane is an Information Security / IT Risk Consultant with over 10 years experience in the IT industry, both locally and internationally. Prior to starting his own IT consulting company, he was a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he initially worked as an IT Forensic Consultant and then specialised in Information Security consulting. He has extensive experience in security management, security audits and risk assessments and has provided advice as a security manager to various clients.  Bevan has also worked throughout Africa, Europe and Asia and has presented papers at many conferences around the world. He is also quoted in various local South African publications concerning various information security issues. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a qualified Certified Information Systems Security Practitioner (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and ISO lead auditor.

 

Jaco van Niekerk

Jaco van Niekerk is the ICT Business – Partner within EON Consulting, with 9 years of consulting experience, ranging from Business Strategy and Operational Improvement, to Process Reengineering and Information Technology advisory.

Prior to joining EON, Jaco was responsible for the CIO Advisory Services area within the Deloitte’s Technology Integration competency. He was recognized in Deloitte as a global Subject Matter Expert, and specializes in Information and Technology Strategy, IT Transformation, Organizational Re-engineering, Portfolio Management and deriving Business Value from IT Investments.  Jaco has distinguished himself in IT Governance Implementations, and presented at local and international conferences. He is capable to practically apply Best Practice ICT Governance Frameworks such as CobiT, ITIL, ISO and many more.

As Project / Program Manager, Jaco has delivered various large scale IT Transformation and Reengineering initiatives cross industry.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Jaco was a Lead Engineering Consultant and Sales Manager at a BEE firm, and preceded by a radical Operational Performance and Process Reengineering initiative with McKinsey & Co.

 

Johann Botha

Johann Botha holds an MBA from Oxford Brookes University, itSMF (ISO 20000 Certified Consultant) and ISEB (ITIL Managers Cert.) certifications and has over 22 years of ICT experience and over 16 years management and consulting experience. This includes managing service entities, operations in technical environments, customer/vendor relationships, HR and employee development, finance, including budgeting, financial control and corporate finance, solution provision, IT and business strategy development, tactical and operational development, marketing and sales, ICT Best Practice such as Governance and Risk and Quality Management (BCM, ITIL, MOF, ISO 20000 & CobiT) and managing projects or major roll-outs. He is also a specialist in ICT service management best-practice, business ICT alignment, organisational development, management development and strategy and planning.

 

Louis Ferreira

Louis Ferreira holds a B. Comm. degree from the Free State University and has also completed an Executive Development Programme through The University of Cape Town. After gaining work experience in public and private sector organisations, he created companies like PrestMarine, PrestCom and PrestasiTrust. He later joined Dr. Anthony Valsamakis (Tony) at Corporate Risk Management (Pty) Ltd for further development in his field. Louis later became managing director of CRM Risk Finance Consultants which incorporated captive management, and together with Tony, delivered a very successful training and seminar programme in risk management for clients such as Transnet. He was then appointed managing director of Integrated Risk Finance Consultants (Pty) Ltd (IRC) and R&I Management Services (Pty) Ltd. (RIMS). Together with Dr Tony Valsamakis he was involved in the formation of Guardrisk Insurance Company. At Hollard Risk Capital (Pty) Limited, in which the Eikos Trust was a shareholder, Louis served as a director. He is also a non-executive director of Albatross Insurance Company Limited in Mauritius and a founding member of Mercador Risk which focuses on credit risk solutions. Louis has also consulted, amongst others, to clients such as ABSA Life, Nedbank Insurance Company, Safire Insurance Company and Sanlam Specialised Insurance. He furthered his studies at the University of Johannesburg (previously Rand Afrikaans University) in accounting and tax and consulted to various medium and small business clients in tax, accounting and computer systems. Louis is currently a partner and director at the Eikos Group.

Michael Pateras

Michael Pateras is a consultant in the Enterprise Architecture division at Letsema Consulting and holds a BCom Information Systems and BCom Honours Business Informatics. He is also a TOGAF certified trainer and has obtained a good understanding and diverse experience in business intelligence, which is assisting him in becoming a highly rated Information Architect.

Michael has been involved in various projects ranging from integration to business process re-engineering solutions, where his role has varied from being team member to team lead. He has also participated in the design of an international logistics company Information Systems Architecture (ISA) using various UML modeling tools and frameworks.

His previous work experience includes two years as an Accpac consultant, with a large part of this experience focused on business intelligence. Michael has also spent time consulting in Belgium, Israel and Hong Kong setting up ERP and data warehousing solutions. He was also involved in the systems integration for DHL, between DHL and Sony using webMethods, the integration tool of choice and has gained valuable enterprise architecture experience from projects for National Treasure and DHL.

Mike Shortt

Mike Shortt holds the MAP (Management Advancement Program) qualification from Wits Business School and is a Certified Information Systems Auditor. His further studies include the ISACA IT Governance Professional certification, IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Control Objectives for IT and related Technology (CobiT) Foundation certificates. He is currently one of only three fully qualified and accredited ISACA CobiT trainers in Africa. He has also worked at Barclays Bank, supervising retail banking activities, Hill Samuel Merchant Bank as a senior manager in IT / IS, Investec Bank as a senior IT / IS manager on projects and IT Governance. He also owns and manages a niche IT Governance training and consulting business in Cape Town and is a training partner with Analytix.

 

Pieter Steyn

Pieter Steyn has been involved in process reengineering and automation since 1997 in multiple roles, from insurance specialist to process modelling, solutions architecture and systems development. Since 2000 Pieter has specialised in workflow and document management, and as principal consultant was responsible for ensuring the quality of business process design and implementation across multiple Business Process Management programmes. He has completed training with BPMG and Dr. Michael Hammer, and has developed and run several internal and external training courses. In 2007 he became a partner in 93 Degrees, a niche provider of business consulting and technology services, specialising in business process management, enterprise content management and enterprise architecture. Pieter is a lead associate of the Business Process Transformation Group and responsible for the future development of both the Technology section of the BPTG website and the 8 Omega Framework.

 

Pria Chetty

Pria Chetty completed her law degree in 2000 and went on to specialise in Electronic Law and Intellectual Property Law. An active commentator on the ICT industry, she has been approached for numerous speaking engagements at international and local Technology and Innovation events and written articles that have appeared in numerous publications regarding legal developments in the ICT industry. She was identified as one of the Brightest Young Minds in South Africa and later, in 2006, featured in Maverick magazine as one of five young attorneys making their mark in legal practice in South Africa. She is the founder of Technology and Innovation Law Firm, Chetty Law.

 

Rob Göllnitz

Rob Göllnitz obtained a BA (Law) degree at the University of Johannesburg (previously Rand Afrikaans University) and later joined Alexander Forbes’ physical risk management division as a trainee consultant. During this time, he developed CRM X2, a pioneering risk control software suite which was designed not only to assist in the day to day medial task of risk control but also to assist in the management of a Group or site risk management programme. Rob then joined Mutual Risk Group (MRG) team of CRM International in Johannesburg, where he was instrumental in the design and implementation of a formalised risk control grading programme for the ICS Group, including a star rating system. He was later invited to join Group Risk Management Services (GRMS) as the Risk Control Manager.

Rob is the current chairman of the MRG / Barloworld Risk Control Standards Committee which oversees the development, updating and implementation of the South African industry benchmark on physical risk control standards.

His current responsibilities include the development, implementation and management of various tailor-made risk control and risk management programmes for GRMS’ leading existing and new clients, as well as the design and implementation of numerous EWRM programmes and assessments and the documentation and implementation of frameworks, policies and procedures.

He has also had his paper entitled “Business and Society’s Exposure to HIV/AIDS in the South African Context” published in the United Nations publication “Know Risk” detailing the management of the HIV/Aids Risk in South Africa. Rob is a past vice president and treasurer of the Society of Risk Managers, past council member of The Risk Management Federation of South Africa and currently a member of Institute of Risk Manager South Africa (IRMSA).

 

Maiendra Moodley

In addition to his MBA from University of Wales, Maiendra Moodley is a graduate of the University of Natal, where he completed his Bachelor of Commerce Degree with majors in Business Information Systems and Information Systems Technology. He subsequently completed the Advanced Business Programme and Bachelor of Technology (Management) at Technikon Natal. He obtained a distinction for his MBA dissertation which examined the security risk management measures that banks adopt in online banking. In addition, he completed the Advanced Security Management Programme at Technikon Pretoria, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic and Investigative Accounting at the University of Pretoria.

He is presently studying for his Master in Security Studies at the University of Pretoria. Professionally, he is a member of the American Society of Industrial Security, and the Institute of Directors (SA).
Other positions that he has held include a Director for the Computer Society of South Africa. Maiendra’s work experience includes having served as a senior systems auditor and a security architect with a leading retail bank, supervising IT LAN support services, being a panelist and examiner on the IT programme of a national tertiary institution to serving as the Technical Security Advisor at the South African Reserve Bank. Other positions that he has held range from serving as a Trainee Accountant to a Senior Risk Consultant. These skills and extensive experience, which are supplemented by his formal qualifications, allow him to present both a practical and strategic perspective to his clients.

  

Winston Hayden

Winston Hayden is an IT governance consultant with ITGS Consultants and specialises in governance risk, compliance, assurance and service management advisory.  He has been working in the IT industry for over 15 yrs, both locally and internationally, across various commercial sectors including banking, insurance, telecommunications, mining, manufacturing, healthcare, broadcasting and retail. Throughout his career he has been involved in various IT roles, from being a Microsoft engineer to serving in an IT management level position. He has also been involved in various disciplines including process management, operations management, outsourcing, new business, project management, training, as well as audit and assurance management. Winston is currently serving as Vice-President of ISACA South Africa, and is a member of the national workgroup on ICT Governance standards.  He is also a member of the CobiT Developer Workgroup and contributes to IT Governance Institute publications. Winston is a best-practice subject-matter expert and lectures on IT governance, IT risk management, IT auditing, CobiT, and ITIL.
